The
22nd of December 1999 will surely remain an important and historic date
for the Malta Football Referees Association, a day in which the setting
up of the association was celebrated. Exactly in 1949. So,
in 1999 our association became 50 years old
The
M.F.R.A. Committee wanted to make this occasion memorable and organised
a reception to commemorate the event.
A good number of members accompanied by their partners attended
and celebrated together, at the reception which was held at the Cortile
Farm House in San Gwann
It
was an occasion, where referees of every age, active and retired, shared
their experiences. It was a unique occasion and everybody who attended
had words of praise for the truly exceptional organisation
The
M.F.R.A. President, Mr. Patrick Fenech, addredded those present and
later presented a memento to the president of the Malta Football
Association, and guest, Dr. Joe Mifsud L.L.D. in appreciation of his
work in the sector of Maltese Referees
Dr.
Mifsud, in a short speech, showed satisfaction at the progress achieved
by the referees, both locally and abroad, and said that due thanks
should be addressed to the Malta Football Association and the Malta
Football Referees Association. Dr. Mifsud, whilst showing his
appreciation and praising the initiative of the committee, thanked
everyone for the invitation, and in the name of the M.F.A. presented a
memento for the occasion to the president of the M.F.R.A., Mr. Patrick
Fenech
Ex-Presidents
of the M.F.R.A. were presented with a memento, whilst the M.F.R.A.
President's memento, was presented by ex-President Mr. Joseph M. Cassar
Naudi. This gesture was
very much appreciated by those present
An
overview of the past 50 seasons will be published in a booklet by the
M.F.R.A. towards the end of this season.
